Year Ahead and Coroners Conference 2016

The LRSA 2016 Year Ahead Conference, We Asked Your Opinion…..And Listened

A little while ago the LRSA asked members and Registration professionals what they wanted to see at the 2016 LRSA Year Ahead Conference. The level of response received was excellent and to those of you who took the time to feedback, we'd like to say a big 'thank you' and let you know we've certainly listened to what you want to see at our next major event.

Key areas highlighted that our delegates would like to see more of include case studies and initiatives where good practice can be showcased by services who have actually delivered this, and reaped the results; real topics and areas that impact upon the day to day challenges of running a modern Registration Service; representation by the General Register Office and the opportunity for interaction between themselves and delegates; and service legislation changes and the impact and opportunities that may arise as a consequence as well as the future of the service and alternative service delivery models, together with future funding opportunities. Survey respondents also stressed the need to have interactive sessions at conference as well as opportunities to maximise networking with colleagues, something which can only really be achieved at events such as this.

A clear message was delivered by respondents that they'd like to see the conference give a platform to Coroner Service related matters, particularly in relation to Deprivation of Liberty Orders and in achieving synergy across the Registration Service and Coroner Service, in line with the Chief Coroner's aspiration for a more 'joined up' approach to service delivery. In response to this, we are proposing to hold a two day conference which will focus on Registration Service issues on day one, and then move onto the Coroners Service for day two. Naturally, we expect this two day event to be of great interest as many Registration Service Managers also have responsibility for the Coroner Service and a discounted two day delegate rate will be available to make what the LRSA anticipate will be an essential conference affordable and good value for money. The LRSA are also pleased to confirm that the Deputy RG and the Chief Coroner will be in attendance.

Our conference for 2016 will be hosted in the beautiful market town of Stratford upon Avon and held in the Holiday Inn Hotel on 25 and 26 May. Bookings are now open. The LRSA look forward to seeing you there!
