Assessor support needed

Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to let you know that we have received an overwhelming level of interest from prospective candidates from across England and Wales to join the Nationally Accredited Programme for Registration Officers . The quality of applications has been exceptionally high and we are now faced with the task of matching candidates to assessors for the first Cohort which will commence in September ’14 (to coincide with the end of the pilot).

Perhaps not surprisingly given the level of interest, we now need additional colleagues who might be keen to train to become assessors or internal verifiers (IV) for the future. High quality assessor/IV support and availability is a critical element of the programme without which it will be impossible to mentor candidates through the programme to achieve a successful outcome.

In the first instance we are looking to recruit new assessors to support those candidates who have already submitted an application.  A list of the areas where assessor support is required is included in the attached document (PDF 12KB).

Whether you are able to offer support to one of the districts included on the list (perhaps on the basis of a cost recovery charge between the authorities) or more widely in terms of the future, we need to hear from you.

If you are interested in becoming an assessor/IV you will need to consider the information supplied in the Assessor pack and Q&A document. You should then complete an application form, returning it  to the address indicated at the bottom of the form by 31 August ’14.

I do hope that you will be encouraged to apply. If you have any queries please email in the first instance to nq@tsi.org.uk

The role in brief:
Assessors will:

  • Provide support for a maximum of 2 candidates in year 1, rising to a maximum of 3 thereafter
  • Be available to provide support and direction to candidates as well as assessing the portfolio of evidence
  • Be required to provide up to 2 hours per month to support each candidate
  • Be required to attend a 2 day training event in advance of commencing the programme (the next event will be held in November/December with subsequent events early in 2015)
  • Wish to discuss with their employer whether time might be afforded to support a border LA on the basis of cost recovery
